Don't you see that you always call him the Boss Man, I guess you treat him as a Boss Man too. What else anyman needs Vivi. If I find a girl who tells me her Boss Man Tomorrow I will marry her..lolHe and Shehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00335451599132498300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-237342543333567202.post-28795350284306352392007-10-10T13:25:00.000-04:002007-10-10T13:25:00.000-04:00Well, after hearing about Jeffries(?) and his clan...Well, after hearing about Jeffries(?) and his clan, it just reminds me of the old guy in Big Love who's marrying the young 13 year old (?) and his bunch of ladies. That's creepy, on a bunch of different levels.

I don't know if it works, since I'm not a polygamist, and I'm not friends with any personally (not that I know of). I'm just saying as long as it's an agreement, I really couldn't care less. The same goes for same sex marriage. Do these people threaten me? No way. Do they threaten society - only if you let some ass like Jeffries loose to impose his rule (I just saw a bit of the testimony, and sound bites). But he's more a "cult" creature than anything else.

Other than that, what other people choose to do with their lives, and that's the main theme - choose - then I really don't give a shit. Bigamy is illegal in every state. Utah had to make it illegal to get admitted to the U.S. So what Utah polygamists do is get legally married to one wife, and then illegally (secretly) married to others (as in Big Love.)

If these people lived on my street what would I do? Let it go. Though, I must admit, they'd be food for the neighborhood gossip fodder at association meetings!vagabondbloggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15335179461403449587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-237342543333567202.post-75480810455803402102007-10-10T12:16:00.000-04:002007-10-10T12:16:00.000-04:00I just have never heard of polygymy working. It's ...I just have never heard of polygymy working. It's not fair, and the Quran warns men that it's impossible to be completely fair.

I'm a huge fan of Big Love, also. Waiting for the new season...I think the Egyptian serials portraying polygymy as this comedy of errors likely hits too close to home. I enjoy watching Big Love, but then I wasn't raised in a polygymous environment.Susan https://www.blogger.com/profile/06455506176926199209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-237342543333567202.post-66165563509286067962007-10-09T13:25:00.000-04:002007-10-09T13:25:00.000-04:00Okay, I admit it: One of my favorite shows on TV ...Okay, I admit it: One of my favorite shows on TV is HBO's Big Love about a polygamist "Momo" (Mormon) family. I have to wait for the DVD since it's not offered on iTunes.

In the UAE, especially Dubai, you would see gigantic villas, totally identical, side by side and they were owned by someone who had several wives. I think it's okay if all the wives are treated equally - that's what the Koran says. It should really be up to the individuals themselves. The wives have to be in agreement, but I have heard of wives with a pre-nup stating that the husband will not take on a second wife.

Personally, if The Boss Man were to take on a second wife, I would, uh, haa, scratch her eyes out. But that's just me.vagabondbloggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15335179461403449587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-237342543333567202.post-78916144887040039122007-10-09T11:43:00.000-04:002007-10-09T11:43:00.000-04:00polgamy is endemic in Egypt but more in the lower ...polgamy is endemic in Egypt but more in the lower social classes. No one can deny that. I don't see any shame in it if it is legal and permitted by the religion. There are so many unfortunate women in rural Egypt and I guess being a second wife and having a supporter is better than staying single and starve. I once was a Doctor in a rural area and got used to see a farmer coming to the clinic with his three wives to be examinedHe and Shehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00335451599132498300noreply@blogger.com
